Leaf Removal

Leaves left sitting through a wet Oklahoma winter smother turf and invite disease. We clear the whole property and haul everything away.

Fastest way to get a price: call. We answer during business hours — Monday – Saturday, 7:00am – 6:00pm.

Leaves are not just a cosmetic problem. A heavy mat sitting on turf through a wet Oklahoma winter blocks light, traps moisture against the crown, and creates the conditions for snow mold and other fungal damage that show up as dead patches in March. Leaves that pack into beds hold water against foundations and siding, and leaves in gutters back water up under the shingle line. Clearing them is maintenance, not tidying.

AK Lawn Care runs full-property fall cleanups: turf, beds, fence lines, window wells, patios, drives, and walkways. Heavily treed lots almost always need two or three passes across the season rather than one enormous cleanup in December, because a single pass either happens too early — before the oaks and pin oaks finish dropping — or too late to protect the turf.

Everything gets hauled off. On light leaf volume we can mulch-mow the leaves back into the lawn instead, which shreds them into a free soil amendment and returns organic matter and nutrients. Heavy cover has to come off entirely, and we will tell you honestly which situation you have.

What's included

  • Full-property leaf clearing
  • Bed and fence-line cleanout
  • Gutter-line and hard-surface blowing
  • Multiple passes across the season
  • Haul-off included

Timing your fall cleanups

Around McAlester, most maples and sweetgums drop through late October and November while oaks hold on well into December, and some pin oaks hang onto brown leaves until spring. A single cleanup scheduled for early November leaves you with a fully covered yard by Christmas; a single one scheduled for January leaves the turf smothered through the wettest weeks of the year. Two or three passes solves it.

Beds deserve as much attention as the lawn. Leaf litter packed against a foundation stays wet, invites insects, and rots the bottom edge of siding and trim. We pull the litter out of beds and away from the structure rather than blowing it deeper into the shrub line.

Fall cleanup is also the natural time to knock out the rest of the winter prep list — a final low cut on bermuda, cutting back perennials, clearing gutters' worth of debris off hard surfaces, and getting the property in a state where the first warm week in spring is a green-up instead of a rescue.

What affects the price

Every property is different, so we quote on what we can see rather than a flat rate off a website. These are the factors that move the number, and the reason a two-minute phone call gets you a far more accurate price than any online calculator.

  • Lot size and how much of it is under tree canopy
  • Number of mature trees and species — oaks and sweetgums drop heavy volume
  • Number of passes needed across the season
  • Bed square footage and fence-line footage to be cleared
  • Whether leaves are hauled off or mulched in place
  • Wet, matted leaves, which weigh and handle very differently from dry

Signs it's time to call

  • You cannot see grass through the leaf cover
  • Leaves are packed into beds and against the foundation
  • Last spring the lawn came out of winter with dead, matted patches
  • You own the property but do not live there full-time
  • You simply do not want to spend three weekends with a rake

Common mistakes we fix

One cleanup for the whole season

Oaks drop into December. A single pass is always too early or too late.

Leaving leaves on turf over winter

Matted leaves plus winter moisture equals snow mold and bare patches in spring.

Blowing leaves into beds

It hides the problem until spring, when the litter is wet, rotted, and packed against the foundation.

What customers say

Trusted on properties across McAlester

"AK Lawn Care took over our weekly mowing after two no-show companies in a row. They show up on the same day every week, edge the driveway crisp, and blow the walks clean before they leave. Our yard has never looked better."
Dana R.McAlester, OK
"We run a small rental portfolio and need crews we can trust on vacant properties. They handle the cleanouts between tenants, keep the lawns up, and always send a photo. No babysitting required."
Marcus T.Hartshorne, OK
"Had them out for a pressure wash and ended up booking regular service. The driveway looks brand new and the front walk no longer turns green every spring. Honest pricing and no upsell pressure at all."
Linda P.Krebs, OK
"Our lake place in Eufaula is a second home, so we needed someone who would just take care of it. They keep it guest-ready whether we are down for the weekend or not. Worth every penny for the peace of mind."
Greg & Susan M.Eufaula, OK
"After the big windstorm dropped limbs all over the yard, they had everything cleared and hauled off in one afternoon. Fast, fair price, and they even fixed a fence panel that had been knocked loose."
Ricky H.Wilburton, OK
"Family-owned shows in how they treat the property. They noticed a sprinkler head I did not even know was broken and worked around it instead of running it over. That kind of care is rare these days."
Patricia K.Savanna, OK
